On January 22, 2025, the EPHYRA project, participated in a collaborative workshop organised by TRIERES Valley and TWINN2SET projects. The high-impact workshop was focused on “Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and Storage, and Geothermal Value Chains”. The event was successfully coordinated by the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) and brough together a multidisciplinary network of stakeholders across the energy value chain.
The workshop highlighted the growing interconnectivity between clean energy technologies and the practical steps being taken toward building Greece’s future low-carbon economy. EPHYRA project, a key component of Motor Oil’s clean hydrogen strategy, was prominently featured in multiple sessions.
Key highlights from the workshop:
- Keynote Speech: Georgios Mitkidis, Head of the Alternative & Renewable Fuels Department at Motor Oil, delivered a strategic presentation on the group’s green transition roadmap through 2030. He spotlighted Motor Oil’s integrated investment plan to transform the East Mediterranean into a low-carbon energy hub—with EPHYRA positioned as a cornerstone project.
- Session I on Hydrogen Value Chain: Titled “Green Hydrogen Projects (EPHYRA & TRIERES): The Way to Decarbonize Industry and Transport”, this session featured Dr. Stella Giannisi and Vasiliki Panaretou from Motor Oil Group. The discussion emphasized hydrogen’s pivotal role in enabling industrial decarbonization and transport innovation in Greece.
With over 30 experts in attendance, the workshop fostered dynamic exchanges on advanced technologies, regulatory pathways, and the future of integrated clean energy systems. Events like this underscore EPHYRA’s role as not only a project but a catalyst in Greece’s and Europe’s broader energy transition.
