EPHYRA Progress Featured at 6th Renewable & Storage Forum in Athens

The EPHYRA project was prominently featured at the 6th Renewable & Storage Forum, held on October 31 – November 1, 2024, at the National Insurance Conference Center in Athens. Representing Motor Oil (EPHYRA project coordinator), Konstantinos Chatzifotis, EU Affairs Manager, presented key updates on the project’s momentum and future milestones.

EPHYRA continues to distinguish itself as one of the few hydrogen projects in Southeast Europe making tangible progress. The project aims to deliver green hydrogen by 2026, supporting the decarbonisation of the Agioi Theodoroi refinery and advancing Greece’s broader climate commitments.

Key progress shared included the completion of vendor selection and the launch of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for the electrolyser system.

EPHYRA’s mission is fully aligned with the EU’s Fit for 55 Package and the European Green Deal, aiming to establish a sustainable, scalable hydrogen value chain in the region.

Developed by a robust consortium of 10 partners from 6 countries, EPHYRA exemplifies cross-border cooperation in green innovation and sets a high standard for the region’s energy transition. While the project consortium has recently undergone updates to better reflect evolving roles and partnerships, EPHYRA’s collaborative foundation remains strong and aligned with its strategic objectives.

As the project accelerates toward implementation, it continues to represent Greece’s leadership in clean hydrogen and its commitment to a low-carbon future.
